Did you choose your job… or did your chakras choose it for you?

Understand why you chose your career path and how to realign it with your authentic energy

Have you ever looked at your job, your business, or even your degree and thought: “How did I end up here?” Or maybe you’ve felt stuck, drained, or uninspired—even though you once thought this path would make you feel fulfilled.

What if the problem isn’t what you chose, but from where inside of you you chose it?

Many of us select careers based on the energetic imprint of a specific chakra. Sometimes it's the one that’s most developed. Other times, it’s the one that’s hurting the most. And occasionally, it’s the one our soul came to work on this lifetime.

Understanding this can radically shift how you relate to your job, your purpose, and your next steps. Let’s explore how each chakra relates to professional paths, what your choice might be telling you, and how to realign your vocation with who you truly are.

The link between chakras and your profession

Chakras are energetic centres in your body, each associated with a different area of life—survival, creativity, willpower, love, communication, intuition, and spiritual connection. When a chakra is strong, it naturally shapes how you express yourself. When it’s wounded, it can lead you to make choices out of fear, scarcity, or an unconscious need to heal.

That includes your work.

You might be in a career that flows from your natural gifts (a strong throat chakra leading you to teaching, for example). Or you might have chosen a path to compensate for an unmet need (like becoming a nurse to feel valued, when your heart chakra longs for connection).

Neither is right or wrong. The key is awareness.

How each chakra relates to career themes

Let’s look at the essence of each chakra and how it tends to show up in the world of work.

Root chakra – Security, structure, physical survival
Professions often related to this energy include police officers, construction workers, farmers, accountants, or anyone managing physical resources and safety. People in these roles are often drawn to creating stability and tangible results—or they may have chosen this path from a fear of not being secure enough.

Sacral chakra – Creativity, pleasure, emotion, flow
Artists, designers, chefs, dancers, and event planners are usually expressing a strong or emerging sacral chakra. But some might have chosen this path to reconnect with joy, pleasure, or their emotional body after suppressing it for too long.

Solar plexus chakra – Power, action, autonomy, confidence
Think entrepreneurs, athletes, CEOs, lawyers, and motivational speakers. This is the energy of stepping into your power and taking up space. But it can also show up as overcompensation: choosing high-performance roles to prove your worth.

Heart chakra – Love, compassion, service, connection
Healers, therapists, nurses, social workers, animal carers—these professions often emerge from a desire to serve and love deeply. Sometimes this is an authentic calling. Other times, it’s a way to offer the care we didn’t receive.

Throat chakra – Communication, expression, truth
Writers, speakers, singers, translators, and teachers often channel this energy. They may feel a deep need to express, be heard, or help others find their voice. Those with a blocked throat chakra might be afraid to speak up but are drawn to roles that require it, as part of their healing.

Third eye chakra – Intuition, insight, vision
Psychologists, coaches, strategists, researchers, astrologers—these professions require seeing beyond the surface. If you’re drawn to them, you likely have strong intuitive gifts or are trying to make sense of chaos through inner vision.

Crown chakra – Spirituality, transcendence, purpose
Monks, spiritual teachers, energy workers, and visionaries tend to work from this chakra. But some people are drawn to these areas not from connection, but from escapism or wanting to belong to something greater.

Did you choose your career from a wound, a gift, or a soul lesson?

There are three main reasons we tend to gravitate toward certain career paths:

1. Your strongest chakra (your gift)
These are the roles that feel natural. You do them with ease, joy, and magnetism. People often acknowledge your talent. You feel energised and inspired when you're in action.

2. Your most wounded chakra (your healing)
Sometimes, we choose professions in areas where we are wounded. We try to give to others what we didn’t receive ourselves. A classic example: someone with abandonment wounds becoming a caregiver or therapist. Healing happens along the way, but burnout can appear too.

3. A karmic or soul-driven need (your evolution)
These paths may not come easily. They may stretch us, challenge us, or trigger us. But they are deeply transformative. You may have chosen this work to develop a dormant quality or close a pattern from other lifetimes.

How to know what’s driving your career choices

Ask yourself:

  • Do I feel energised or drained by my work?

  • Did I choose this from passion—or from pressure?

  • What part of my job brings me the most joy? And which part feels like a constant struggle?

  • Am I trying to prove something? To myself or others?

  • What did I dream of doing as a child?

There’s no shame in recognising that a part of you chose something for safety, approval, or to heal. The power lies in becoming conscious—and then deciding what you want from here.

Why this matters: alignment is everything

When your profession is aligned with your energy, things start to flow:

  • You attract the right opportunities

  • You feel more energised and fulfilled

  • Money starts to follow your joy

  • Burnout decreases

  • Self-doubt softens

You don’t need to burn it all down. Sometimes, it’s about making small shifts that realign you with your authentic centre.

Tools to help you reconnect with your true path

Here are some of the tools I use with clients to explore the energetic roots of their professional path:

Bach Flower Remedies – Gentle yet powerful support to harmonise emotions and chakra imbalances linked to work, burnout, or misalignment.

Holistic coaching & biodecoding – Sessions to unpack your subconscious programming around work, money, worth, and purpose. We explore what shaped your career choices and how to reprogram from the root.

Business & Entrepreneurship Oracle Cards – If you’re an entrepreneur (or thinking of becoming one), your business also has energetic needs. This oracle deck helps you identify:

  • What area of your business needs focus

  • Which chakra it relates to

  • The astrological energy supporting that area

It’s a powerful mirror to help you align your strategy with your energy—not with someone else’s formula.

Your vocation is a mirror of your inner world

Whether you’re in a corporate job, running your own business, freelancing, or in transition, your work reflects something deeper within. Every job you’ve had has taught you something about your energy.

Maybe you’ve outgrown the version of you who made those past choices. That’s okay. You’re allowed to evolve.

Understanding the chakra behind your professional path isn’t about labelling your job as good or bad. It’s about reclaiming your power to choose consciously—again and again.

If you’re ready to explore this more deeply, I’d love to support you.

You can start with the Business & Entrepreneurship Oracle Cards or book a personalised session to go deeper into your energetic career map.

Your gifts are not random. Your path isn’t a mistake. And the world is waiting for the work only you can do—when it’s aligned with who you truly are.
